Morgan’s Mount enhances pan European Portico Project

Between 2009 and 2012 a team of architects, designers, artists, archaeologists, engineers and conservation experts worked together on Chester City Walls as part of the European Portico Project.

Grosvenor were proud to be an integral part of the team on a large part of the project.

Morgan’s Mount was our first sub-project and was completed recently. Designated a Grade I listed building. It was constructed during 1645 during the siege of Chester as an observation platform during the English Civil War.

The building has been sensitively brought back to life and enhanced with beautifully designed railings to enable it to regain it’s original use as a platform to view the grand panorama towards the mountains of Wales and beyond.
