Beauty in Dereliction

prestbury-1Flaybrick Hill Cemetery in Birkenhead is one of the most remarkable green spaces in the north west of England.

It was designed by renowned Victorian landscape designer Edward Kemp and opened in 1864.

At the heart of a cemetery is a Gothic Revival building which has suffered dereliction over the years.

Grosvenor are gently bringing the building back to life – not in restoration but in consolidation as part of the recognition of the importance of the site which has been designated a conservation area.

The Gothic chapel is at the fulcrum of a landscape which is full of life – an arboretum and wildlife friendly conservation.
