The Propylaeum in Chester is significant in so many ways. Firstly it is a grade I listed building of great architectural importance. Secondly it is the formal entrance into an area that is rooted in the original Norman Castle that stood here almost a thousand years ago.
The gateway was designed by Thomas Harrison and has suffered from subsidence and erosion over the years.
Grosvenor has been tasked with the responsibility of stabilising the structure, and making sensitive repairs to the historic fabric, aswell as additional signage and lighting.
The work is now complete which has enabled this wonderful structure to be welcoming visitors to this historic location for many years to come.
